Public Repo Auction 101
We are open to the public every Wednesday during our repo auction. You are encouraged to complete registration as early as possible. This will allow time to inspect the vehicles. Please take a moment to review this entire page. If you have further questions check the F.A.Q. page.
Planning for a Successful Auction Day
Before Auction Day
Do Your Research
Tuesday afternoon you can view a run list of the repossessed vehicles that will be available at our sale.
The list will include make, model, year, mileage, color, and transmission type of the vehicle.
Select the vehicles from this list that you would potentially bid on.
After selecting vehicles, research the blue book value for each selection (low and high end).
There are several apps available that allow you to research vehicle history reports and blue book values while inspecting the used cars.
Plan for Success
Locate your valid ID. You must have a valid, non-expired ID to register for a bid badge.
Print out the registration agreement, sign it and bring it in with you. This will speed up the process. Forms will also be available at registration if you do not have a printer.
Determine a budget and stick to it.
Plan to arrive early. Registration opens 2 hours prior to the sale. A typical repo sale will last about 45 minutes.
abc Cincinnati does not offer financing or payment plans of any sort.
If you need financing, you will need to secure your own terms and have the funds available before the day of the auction.
When successfully bidding on a vehicle, you will be responsible for paying the full amount with cash or cashier's check.
Registration will open 2 hours prior to the auction.
You will need to register in order to receive a bid badge. You are allowed one guest per bid badge.
Each bid badge will require a $500 cash deposit that will go towards the purchase price of the vehicle.
If you do not purchase a vehicle, your deposit is returned to you.
If you successfully bid on a vehicle that you cannot pay for, you forfeit your $500 deposit.
If you plan on purchasing multiple vehicles you need to register for multiple bid badges.
Inspect the Vehicles
After you have received a bid badge you will gain access to the auction floor and lot.
You are encouraged to visually inspect the vehicles.
Walk completely around the vehicle and look for unacceptable damages.
Open the vehicle and inspect the interior.
Open the hood to inspect the engine.
Inspect the transmission type (automatic or manual).
Inspect the color of the vehicle.
You are not allowed to test drive the vehicles. Vehicles will be driven through the auction floor.
Bid on a Vehicle
Only the person who is registered for the bid badge may place a bid on a vehicle.
Display your bid badge on a visible part of your body.
The auctioneer will not accept a bid if they cannot see your bid badge.
Listen carefully for mechanical announcements and make sure that you are bidding on the correct vehicle.
Stick with your budget. After successfully bidding on a vehicle the buyer is responsible for payment of the bid price in addition to applicable buyer fees.
Trust your instincts, if something doesn"t feel right move to the next car on your list.
If you successfully bid on a vehicle, you need to take your bid badge to the auction block clerk, sign the sales ticket, and receive a pink buyers order.
If you successfully bid on a vehicle, you are obligated to purchase that vehicle.
After the Auction
After the auction has ended, exit the auction floor and proceed to the front office.
If you have successfully bid on a vehicle, you will need to pay the entire balance of the vehicle in addition to applicable buyer fees.
Payment must be in form of cash or cashier"s check. You will need the pink buyers order to complete your transaction with the front office clerk.
If you were unsuccessful with your bids, please return your bid badge and receipt to the front office in order to be refunded your $500 cash deposit.
After a vehicle is paid in full, you will be allowed to take it off the lot. You will need to go to the BMV for temporary tags.
After you receive a title, it is your responsibility to register the vehicle with the BMV and pay applicable taxes.
Other Useful Information
abc Cincinnati is not an absolute auction. If a vehicle has not met an acceptable selling price it will either be placed on an "if" or determined a no sale. Once a vehicle is placed on an "if" we will contact the seller to see if they will agree to sell the vehicle for the highest bid. The highest bid will then be accepted, rejected, or countered.
If you have successfully bid on a vehicle and it is placed on an "if", it is your responsibility to check the status of the sale.
"If" sales may be cancelled within 1 hour after the conclusion of the auction.
Repossessed vehicles will be sold under the following lights:
"As-Is" Red Light
Seller guarantees nothing, except the vehicle cannot be frame damaged or flood damaged and has Proper emissions devices and air bags.
Vehicles that meet any one of the following conditions are sold "AS-IS".
- Any vehicle announced "As-Is"
- Any vehicle sold for Less than $1000
- Recreational vehicles, boats, buses, motorcycles, dune buggies, trailers, snowmobiles, jet skis, antiques, and kit cars.
- Push or tow through units
- All taxis, governmental or municipality vehicles
"AG" Green Light
Seller guarantees vehicle to have good head gaskets and a sound driveline, including lower Engine Block, Rods, Crank, Transmission, Transaxle, and Rear End. Clutch, CV Joints, and Hub Bearings can"t be arbitrated.
Rules & Regulations
No one under the age of 18 years old will be allowed on the auction floor.
No animals may be brought into the auction.
Only registered bidders may place a bid.
You may only successfully bid on one vehicle per bid badge.
Once you have successfully bid on a vehicle, you are responsible for payment, no exceptions.
Once the repossession auction has ended, public buyers must exit the auction floor and proceed to the front office.
